Transmission Project Bundle
Project Description
The Project Bundle involved installing a new transmission line conductor and fiber optic shield wire, reinforcing existing towers, the installation of new towers, removing and replacing two existing 500kV SF6 circuit breakers and five motor-operated disconnect switches, and removing and replacing the bus and insulators with the installation of the new higher rated equipment. The interconnection included installation of a new 230kV SF6 circuit breaker, motor operated disconnect switch, and a gas insulated bus.
Project Highlights
The team’s successes included increasing the capacity for two-230 transmission circuits, increasing the substation capacity for the 500kV circuit, and installing the substation interconnection for the new 230kV circuit.
LCS had been awarded this project after the client was dissatisfied with an existing contractor’s performance, increasing the challenge of the role as it is difficult to turn around a troubled project.
LCS’ knowledge of the client’s PM processes and our proven experience has ensured the project success after a slow start. The project is now on schedule.
